| | Cabbage is a hearty plant that contains a lot of vitamin C. It is derived from a wild, leafy mustard plant, native to the Mediterranean. A cabbage plant is large and wide with many out-folding leaves. Only the inner part of the plant - the head is actually eaten, and usually the outer leaves of the head is removed as well.

Raw cabbage contains very high levels of vitamin C and also has a high contents of vitamin B6 and folate.
