There are many styles these days and most come with a variety of blade sizes, including this one. We like the good heavy feel this one has. Also because it is completely stainless steel it is easy to clean or put in the dishwasher. We have not had any problems with it slipping, but the blades are sharp on most models so you must be careful. The little slip-out piece is nice and can act to scoop up vegetables after dicing or to work with dough. Overall this is a really nice piece.
