Pros: We find this tool quite useful, especially to grind salt for popcorn. This set is pretty massive, unlike a porcelain type of material, so it is easy to crush spices. Cons: The grip inside the mortar is somewhat smooth and does not have enough texture to crush certain foods. Conclusion: We have used this set to work with pistachio (to make ice cream), salt, many hard spices and also some herbs. I think every kitchen should have one, but this model it too small to do many jobs. As with the food processor, blender or coffee grinder it is useful, but many tools overlap.
