The blade does not cut but rather lifts the lid of the can. Pros: Very smooth design and comfortable in your hand. The can opener cuts the lid of the can so smoothly that there are no sharp edges - it is almost impossible to cut yourself on the opened can or on the opener itself. As opposed to electric can openers that easily get dirty, this model allows easy cleaning. Cons: We don't really have anything but positive remarks in regard to this can opener. Conclusion: When we discovered this can opener we gladly threw away our old ones - both other manual ones as well as electric ones. This one cuts a lid of a can with such easy and simplicity without annoyance.
