Brand & Type: Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 10-1/2-Inch Round Griddle

Price range: low, around $16

Rating: 8

Description: 10 1/2 inch round cast iron griddle.

Pros: cast iron. heat retention.

Cons: pre-seasoned. heavy.

Conclusion: Cast iron is a great material to cook with. We like this kind of griddle to use for frying eggs or taking with us on camping trips to make pancakes. This kind of pan will last forever.

We really like this style pan for certain jobs. You can't break this material so it goes from the fire to the oven to the stovetop. If you eventually create a good seasoning you can kind of get it to be nonstick for pancakes, but eggs will still need a lot of butter to work. But some people we know like their eggs a little crispy and only cast iron can do that.

Lodge has their whole "Logic" series of pre-seasoned cast iron pots and pans and we are not big fans of these pre-seasoned pieces. People may mistake this for a nonstick coating, but it is not at all. Real longterm seasoning can achieve a sort of nonstick character but this is not the same thing as Lodge has accomplished. We are not sure exactly how the longterm use will affect the pre-seasoning but from experience seasoning an ordinary cast iron pan is not difficult.
