Brand & Type: R H Forschner 7-inch Santoku Knife, Granton Edge, Black Fibrox Handle

Price range: $20 - $40 knife

Rating: Medium

Description: 7-inch Santoku Knife with slip resistant handle made of black fibrox.

Pros: Comfortable handle design. Nice sharp blade out of the box.

Cons: Blade is stamped, that only matters if you want more weight or a thicker blade.

Conclusion: This is a very good knife, and of course it comes with the America's Test Kitchen recommendation. We generally prefer heavier knives from Wusthof but this is a nice knife and it is much cheaper than the German or Japanese knives.

Santoku knives are made for cutting vegetables but they have become very popular and some people prefer them to chef's knives. We still prefer chef's knives.
