For most people the only contact they may ever have with bitters is in a Manhattan (Perfect Manhattan), or other cocktails. Basically it is really concentrated flavor from vegetables and alcohol. You can certainly use it to flavor just about any drink or food dish, although most people probably don't have it in the pantry. For a couple bucks it is worth trying. And it lasts forever since it is almost 50% alcohol.
