| | Ground beef provides the perfect blank canvas to work with, as it's so easy to add additional flavors in order to create an interesting dish. Hamburgers is one excellent example which is easy to make extra flavorful, as can be shown in this simple recipe. Here we decided to add a large amount of herbs, garlic as well as cubed cheese to ground beef and the result was very good. The cheese basically melts and incorporates into the meat and the herbs provide a nice underlying flavor; don't be afraid to use a large amount, if you use too little (especially fresh herbs, dried are much more potent), you won't get as much flavor at all.
Since these hamburger patties are so flavorful we choose to not serve them with buns (even though you could certainly do that!), but instead with a nice potato salad on the side. The result was a very nice summer meal which was pretty easy and quick to do on the grill, however of course you could use a pan inside, or the broiler in the oven if you so choose.
10 hamburger patties.
3 lb ground beef ½ lb cheese cut up in cubes (we used Monterey Jack, however Cheddar, Peppar Jack, Feta or something else more flavorful would also work nicely) 1 cup milk ¾ cup breadcrumbs 2 eggs 5 garlic cloves, pressed or minced 1 cup of fresh chopped herbs (we used a combination of Oregano, Parsley, Chives and Basil) 2 teaspoon of salt lots of freshly ground pepper
Method:
Heat up the milk in the microwave or stove and add the breadcrumbs. Combine all the ingredients together (meat, cheese, breadcrumb mic, eggs, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper), and make into hamburger patties.
Either grill, cook in a pan or under the broiler until done.
