Flax Seeds - 1 teaspoon or 2 grams is about 13 calories. The flaxseds are found in two varieties: brown and golden. Small in size with a hard shell that is smooth and shiny offering a warm and nutty flavor. Found whole, ground or as flaxseed oil. A nice addition to cereals, breads, cookies, muffins and shakes or as a garnish for yogurt, soups, salads and dressings. Should be stored in the refrigerator since they go rancid quickly. The flaxseeds contain fiber, micronutrients and omega-3 acids.
