This pasta and steak meal turned out very good. The sauce was creamy and well flavored and the steak was excellent!

Lemon & Broccoli Pasta Sauce Preparation (about 6 servings):

Place 1 tbsp of butter in a pan and dust with about 1 tbsp of flour. Cook for a few minutes to remove any "flour taste." Add about 1 1/2 cups of half-and-half and whisk until the roux is incorporated. Add a bullion cube and bring up to a simmer, continue to whisk until the sauce is smooth. After a few minutes, add about 2 cups of small broccoli pieces and about 4 cloves of chopped garlic. Let cook for a few more minutes, then lastly add the zest and juice from one lemon, and lots of pepper. Season to taste and add some fresh basil to the sauce at the last minute.

Steak Preparation:

The steak was prepared using a heavy cast iron grill pan on the stove top.

Heat oven to around 300 degrees. Heat grill pan on medium high for a few minutes.

Meanwhile prepare the steak by lightly oiling and sprinkling liberally with kosher salt. I grilled the three small steaks for 2 minutes on each side. Then place cast iron grill pan in oven for 10 minutes.

Then let the meat rest for 5-10 minutes. After the meat has cooled slightly slice it as thinly as possible.

Flat Iron SteakFlat Iron Steak is a cut from the chuck area, as shown on this chart.

Assembly:

Pour the sauce over pasta, and top with pieces of steak!
