This is a Holiday Butter Cookie from the "Cookie Press", an old tried and true recipe that always works. It holds its shape, stores nicely and just feels like the Holidays when you bite into one of these. Ingredients - 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/2 cup crisco softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- food coloring
- 2 1/4 cups flours
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla
- colored sugar crystals
Method Preheat oven to 375 degrees Using an electric stand mixer ceam butter & shortening until fluffy-beat in sugar. Add egg & few drops of food coloring - mix well Sift flour, baking powder & salt. Add half of the flour mixture to the butter mixture & blend until smooth. Fill the cookie press with dough & select disc (wreath for Xmas) Form the cookies on ungeased cookie sheets & decorate with colored crystals or cherry Bake 10-12 minutes. Remove & cool on wire racks
