The soft garlic, creamy avocado and salty, crispy bacon do wonders together. By roasting a whole garlic in the oven, the flavors turn mellow and quite sweet and the texture turns smooth and almost spreadable. Just make sure to prepare this appetizer right before serving in order to keep it nice and crisp.
20 pieces
1/3 baguette, cut in small slices 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 whole garlic head 1 avocado 3 bacon slices, cooked 2 tablespoons lemon juice ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon pepper
Method:
Slice the top of the garlic and roast it in a 200 degree oven for about 30-40 minutes until soft. Let cool slightly, then squeeze each bulb out. Either cut each clove in small pieces, or mash with a fork. Brush each bread slice with olive oil and roast in the oven until nice and crispy. Slice the avocado in pieces and cover it with lemon juice. Chop the cooked bacon in pieces.
Assemble the appetizers together: spread each bread slice with the cooked garlic, top with an avocado slice and add some bacon crumbles. Salt and pepper to taste.
